Water damage and pet mess left on the basement floor by previous tenants.

Large Mess Left After Tenants Moved Out

Landlords see all kinds of damage when it comes to their rental properties. This is especially so after tenants move out of the home. This particular landlord had to deal with not only a water damage problem in the basement but also a large amount of pet waste that was left in the basement as well. They made the decision to call us to take care of both of those issues, and we are happy to be Here to Help.

Damage in shower causing the wall to start to fall apart.

Repairs to Bathroom Shower Wall

When you’re in your shower, the last thing you want to do is try to clean yourself while the wall is crumbling away from water damage. That is why our team was called out. The water damage that affected the wall needed to be taken care of, and the area needed to be restored afterward. We’re here to make situations like this feel, “Like it never even happened.”

Air-mover placed under carpet for drying.

Airflow Under Carpet

To dry wet carpet, rather than remove a whole area of carpet we sometimes have the ability to just lift one part, place an air mover, and dry it that way. It doesn’t always happen, but it certainly is helpful when we can!

Water and sewage on basement floor.

Sewage Backup from City Flushing the System

Sometimes there’s nothing you can do to stop sewage backups from happening. The damage shown here was caused by the city flushing the system. The sewage needed to be cleaned up, and the customer made the choice to call us. Needless to say, we were definitely happy to help.

Sewage Backup Into Bathtub

Bathtub filled with a thick layer of sewage.

That is why it is important if something like this happens in your home, you need to reach out to a professional. Your local SERVPRO is here to help with sewage damage like this. Remember, no job is too big or too small!

Large area of mold in the wooden area underneath a sink.

Mold in Kitchen Sink Base

Sometimes we miss mold growth because of where it is located. When it grows in spots like the base of this sink, it’s not uncommon for it to go unnoticed. Luckily our team is more than capable of handling a situation like this one.

Mold in the inside of a boat.

Boat Mold

With as much time as boats spend exposed to moisture, it is no surprise that they sometimes begin to develop mold. Our team was called out to help with the mold removal in the indoor area of this boat. We were more than happy to help, and the owner of the boat was definitely happy with the results!

House falling apart after water damage happened while the house was empty.

Recon After Water Damage

This empty house was hit hard with water damage, and it resulted in secondary damage to the walls, floors, ceilings, and many other spots in the residence. This is a good example of a situation when you should contact your local SERVPRO®. Because secondary damage this bad, there is bound to be some mold and some other structural damage that isn’t visible to the eye. It’s always smart to trust a professional with something as important as a house!

Mold covering a hidden cement wall.

Mold on Cement Wall in Basement Closet

This is definitely a bad case of mold damage. However, the area that we are showing is one that any homeowner might not think to check on a frequent basis. This is a small wall on the inside of a basement closet. While this mold issue is something that our teams are able to handle, we hope this serves as a reminder to check the little hidden areas of your home every once in a while to make sure that there’s nothing growing!

Water & Other Damage After Tenants Move Out

This property owner definitely found a good amount of damage, including but not limited to water damage. Luckily they knew they could contact their local SERVPRO® to help with the cleanup!

Wall removed for mold remediation.

Mold in the Wall

Mold is sneaky. It can show up pretty much anywhere if the circumstances are just right. That’s why our team was definitely not surprised when they were called to a job where there was a substantial amount of mold found in the wall. It’s not the first time we’ve seen something like this, and it definitely won’t be the last.

Drying of water damage where mold has started to grow.

Water & Mold Damage

Water damage is enough of a hassle on its own for homeowners. When that water damage leads to mold damage, it becomes even more of a struggle. Air movers placed in a basement with brick floors and water damage.

Air Movers

Air movers are a necessary tool when it comes to the drying process when we are cleaning and restoring any property. The number, placement, and direction of our air movers are an integral part of ensuring your water damage is dried quickly and completely. If you ever have questions about how many air movers are placed or why they are set up the way they are, ask the team members on your job or call our office. We’ll be happy to explain our process to you!

Major water damage from pipe leak.

Pipe Leak

Pipe leaks are going to become more common as winter continues here in Central Illinois. The further the temperature drops the more likely it is that your pipes will freeze and burst. If you find yourself with water damage, whether it is minor or major (like the photo shown here), you can contact your local SERVPRO®. We are Here to Help®.

One of multiple areas that were left a mess after tenants moved out.

General Clean After Tenants Moved Out

When people move out of a home, it isn’t uncommon for there to be a mess left behind. The hustle and bustle of moving can lead to leftover dirt, dust, and grime. The good news is that if the mess ends up being too big to handle, you can count on SERVPRO® for the cleanup!

Damage to floors and walls after sewage damage.

The Reality of Sewage Damage

Sewage damage isn’t always something you can mop up off the floor and cover the smell up with a candle. Sewage damage affects subflooring, trim, drywall, and anything it touches with water and other types of damage that can be a huge problem if not taken care of correctly. You can count on our teams to take care of sewage the way it should be done.

Sewage all over the floor and on the walls

Sewage Everywhere

This image is only one of many from a job that we have worked on recently where there was an abnormally high amount of sewage that backed up into the house. The most important first step is to extract and clean all of the sewage out of the home, then comes the rest of the cleaning and dry out process.

Sewage isn’t fun and it can be dangerous - so don’t hesitate to call us if you find yourself dealing with sewage damage.

Shower in rough shape after damage - pre-reconstruction.

Shower Reconstruction

Reconstruction is an important part of the cleaning and restoration process. Whether it is a situation like the one shown here, or any other post-mitigation reconstruction, our teams are trained to get things back to normal.

A New Addition to Our Fleet!

We have added a new truck and trailer to our fleet that will be able to haul even more equipment to large jobs. We are working to prove to everyone that there is truly no job too big or too small!

Two small house-like structures built for firefighter training.

What is a Palmer Dollhouse?

These simple wooden houses are meant to be a training tool for fire departments. We build them for their teams, giving them a chance to simulate fire damage and how it can spread without having to do it on a larger scale. We always love having an opportunity to help our local first responders in any way we can!

Wall is removed post damage pre-reconstruction.

Reconstruction After Mold Damage

When drywall is affected by mold damage, it isn’t uncommon for people to just replace it instead of trying to remove the mold. While restoration is our first goal when it comes to your property, we understand that there are some things that are better off being replaced. That is why reconstruction at the end of mitigation and/or remediation jobs is a service we make sure to offer. It’s just another way we’re Here to Help®.

Wood floor in need of general clean.

Wood Floor - General Clean

Wood flooring is beautiful, but it can be incredibly easy to damage and dirty, especially after a building has been left empty for a long period of time. So if your floors or any part of your home is in need of a cleaning that is a little more intense than you think you can do, reach out to your local SERVPRO® and find out more about what we can do for you!

Layer of sewage covering a basement floor.

Sewage from Drain

Cleaning up thick layers of sewage like this can seem incredibly daunting. The mess, the smell, the potential risks of coming into contact with it when you aren’t trained on the proper way to go about cleaning it; it’s all very stressful. This is a perfect example of a reason to contact your local SERVPRO®.

Our teams are trained on how to properly and thoroughly clean sewage damage. You can trust us to do anything we can to make it feel, “Like it never even happened.”

Mold damage to a ceiling fan.

Mold on Ceiling Fans

When mold damage like this happens, whether it is in residential property or commercial property, it’s important to get it remediated as soon as possible. Mold spores travel through the air, and a fan like this is made specifically for airflow purposes. The sooner the mold is taken care of, the sooner the people in this building can breathe without worrying about any health risks. That is what we are here for; we are trained in mold remediation for both residential and commercial properties. We’re Here to Help®!

Carpet saturated with sewage water in an apartment.

Sewage Damage to Carpet

Sewage has its own special scent. So when you have sewage damage, it can be bad enough just to have it on a tile floor. This client was unlucky enough to have the sewage cover tile floors and carpeted floors in this and another apartment after a sewage backup. Thankfully, they called us and we were able to get out there and get to work on fixing the situation!

Floor of a small shower covered in a thick layer of muck; in need of cleaning.

General Clean

“General Clean” can mean so many things for us. Sometimes it means we’re in for something light, sometimes it means we’re going to have a rather long day. Whatever it means, we are happy to help our customers with their general cleaning jobs.

Door frame in need of restoration after being affected by water damage.

Reconstruction After Self-Drying

The truth about water damage is that in some cases where the water damage isn’t as bad the customers already have it dry before we get there. That doesn’t mean there isn’t secondary damage to the affected areas (like the damage to the doorframe shown here). Secondary damage is still enough reason to reach out to your local SERVPRO® to help with the restoration process.

Kitchen counter with a great deal of build up.

General Clean

COVID-19 has been hard on so many people. So when the elderly owner of this home reached out for information on our general cleaning service because they just hadn’t been able to keep up on their house while they were quarantined, we were happy they did. There was enough buildup that it was a good thing that they made the call.

Room in need of general cleaning for build up of dust and dirt.

General Cleaning

General cleaning can mean so many things. It can mean cleaning up thick layers of mud or dust. It can mean cleaning out grease. It can mean post-construction cleanups. Whatever the case, we are here to assist when it comes to a job that your vacuum and mop just don’t seem to be able to handle!

Basement room during the restoration process after sewage had damaged the floors and lower sections of the walls.

Sewage Damage in Basement

It’s never fun to find that sewage has backed up into your home, and it’s certainly no fun when you have to deal with it after having not been home for a few days. That is what this customer had to deal with, and when they came home, they made the decision to call us for the cleanup and restoration of their property.

Sections of wall are removed to aid in they drying and restoration process.

Removing Sections of Drywall After Water Damage

Drywall is a porous material, which means when water damage happens it is very susceptible to being affected. It will absorb high amounts of water, and sometimes the best way to handle it is to remove the affected section and replace it. This helps to avoid mold growth as well as assuring that there will be no aesthetic damage. Sometimes reconstruction is the best option after water damage, and if it comes to that we are certainly Here to Help®.

Mold damage to the lower half of a wall in a residential property.

Mold Damage On Wall

If you find an area with mold, it’s important to act on it as soon as possible. Mold can pose health risks and can lead to severe damage within the very structure of your property. Don’t fall victim to the side effects of mold! Call SERVPRO® for mold remediation services!

Pet Odor - Cleaning and Deodorizing

Odor removal can sometimes be a little more strenuous than just cleaning a carpet or lighting a candle. Odors can sometimes be absorbed into the very tiles or carpet padding, and it can be incredibly tough to get rid of. This is especially true with pet odors. So if you find yourself in a situation where your house smells horribly and there’s nothing you can do, please reach out to us. We’ll do our best to make it, “Like it never even happened.”

Image of a basement wall made of wood and soaked in water.

Water Damage to Basement Wall

The wall in this basement absorbed water from a damage situation. The paneling here was a wood material and if the owners of the house hadn’t noticed it, they could have ended up with mold. However, we were called and were able to help the client. We are happy to be Here to Help®.

Mold on the surface of a door in a building with no residents.

Moldy Door

We talk frequently about how the level of moisture within your home can become a problem if it isn’t monitored, and this is why. This home had not been lived in for a while, and when the moisture levels got too high with nobody around to adjust it, mold like this began to appear throughout the property. Hopefully, something like this never happens to you. If it does though, you can always reach out to your local SERVPRO®! We’re Here to Help®!

When water backs up into your house, it looks a lot like this and it is completely daunting to deal with. We want you to know that you can count on us to be Here to Help® with your water backup damage.

Hole in a wall from water damage.

You're Going to Need Some Recon

The frustrating thing about water damage is not just that everything gets wet, but that sometimes there are areas in the house that fall apart or need to be removed due to the water damage. When that happens you can be left with unsightly damage. The good news is that we have team members who can do the reconstruction for you!

Recon

What you see here is a dry floor and wall. Now that the property is dry, it is time to get things put back to normal. Instead of calling in a completely different company and team, you can depend on SERVPRO® for the reconstruction of your property.

Photo collage of the second day of class

WRT/ASD Class

We have had the pleasure of hosting our first Water/Applied Structural Drying course for the year. This IICRC training has given us the chance to further the training of some of our own people and the training of staff from other SERVPRO franchises as well!

It's going to be an interesting rest of the week!

Mold on the backside of the wall of a residential property.

Mold - Hidden

Mold is easy to miss when it hides within and behind the walls of your home or business. It’s not often that you have access to the backsides of the walls to see what’s going on. That being said, if you are worried this could be something happening on your property, please reach out to your local SERVPRO® for the mold remediation.

Image of air movers drying out an empty room with wood floors.

The Angles Matter

Sometimes the equipment that is laid throughout your property after you face damage can seem like a nuisance. However, the clunky-looking machines are there for a very specific purpose, and they are placed in the positions they are for optimal drying results. If you are ever curious about the process of laying the machines, feel free to ask the team members on your job. They are more than happy to explain it!

Image shows the muck buildup in the crawl space of the client's home.

Sewage in Crawlspace

The gunk in this photo is a stomach-turning mix of debris you would normally find in a crawlspace and sewage that backed up into space. Damage like this is something that property owners should call in professionals for. These spaces are hard to navigate without proper training and this type of damage is dangerous to deal with if you don’t have the right protective equipment.

Don’t deal with a sewage mess on your own if you don’t need to. Call SERVPRO® for the cleanup and restoration.

dusty and rusted ceiling vent

Clean Your Vents

There is no limit to what damage unclean vents can do. Taking the time to clean your vents regularly is the best way to avoid issues, but if you can’t find the time or don’t know what to look for you should call in a professional. Clean vents help you avoid breathing issues from dust or mold, and it helps to prevent accidental fires.

Mold Under AC

Air conditioners are meant to keep you comfortable when the heat and humidity get to be too much (and both have definitely been an issue here in Central Illinois this year). However, when condensation builds up and goes unnoticed, you can end up with a good amount of mold in areas around the AC. Be sure to keep an eye out for any spots that might be growing. Catching mold early can make it easier to take care of it!

Weathering Fail

Weatherising is a common practice for people who leave their homes for the winter. As shown here, toilets need to be weatherized to prevent seasonal damage, especially when there is nobody to maintain the appliance. However, what is shown here is what happens when even the most prepared people fall victim to the weather. Lucky for this family, SERVPRO® has plenty of experience cleaning and restoring mold-damaged property. We are always Here to Help®.

Look Up... There's Mold!

It’s never a fun moment when you get a leak in your ceiling. It’s especially frustrating though when the leak goes unnoticed long enough to form mold. When that happens you can contact your local SERVPRO® to help fix the mold issue.

Mold and Water Damage Under Toilet

Toilets leak and sometimes people miss the bowl. Either way, there is always a chance for water damage to happen around the porcelain throne. The image shown here is from a job with just that issue. So keep an eye out. If you see your bathroom tile looking really dingy around the toilet, get it checked or check it yourself. If there’s water or mold damage, call SERVPRO® to help with the cleanup!

From the Ground Up

We’re sure you get a little tired about hearing about the risks of mold. However, it is important to see exactly what can happen if you don’t take mold issues seriously. The photo here is from a neglected basement. This is just one of the sections that had mold growing. Our teams came out, did an estimate, and got to work as quickly as we could. This was an extreme case and they knew that the sooner the problem was resolved the sooner everyone’s health would be out of danger.

Monitor your homes. Keep an eye out so that you don’t find yourself in a similar situation to this one.

Guess the Pest

Just kidding. We won’t make you guess; because the answer is TERMITES.

Not a pretty word. Not a pretty bug. Not a pretty mess.

These little bugs can be a death sentence for any building that they can chomp down on. While we may not be able to exterminate the little pests, we certainly have the ability to help with the mess and the damage they leave behind when they go. Our heroes are Here to Help® with a wide variety of damages. This wasn’t the first and will not be the last time we are called for pest-related damages.

Wall Deep Cleaning

Sometimes buildings are allowed to accumulate a certain level of grime. Floors and walls become caked with hard to clean filth. When this happens, you can call SERVPRO® and our cleaning teams will be more than up to the task of cleaning whatever is stained. As you can see in this photo, the difference is astounding.

Mold: It Can Hide Anywhere

Basements, attics, that spot behind your dresser that never gets any sunlight; Mold can be in any space with the correct mixture of moisture and temperature. The only trouble is, the longer it goes unnoticed, the more damage it is liable to cause.

The above photo shows a corner of mold in a crawl space that just couldn’t be seen or reached by the owner of the house. Our professionals came in and did what they do best, they found the mold, assessed the damage, and cleaned it out.

Even though mold can hide anywhere, it’s no match for our SERVPRO® Heroes.

Construction Cleanup

When you’ve had parts of your house fixed after damage occurs there is sometimes a mess left behind that your everyday vacuum can’t take care of. When we come in and do reconstruction on a home, you can depend on us to clean up after ourselves. Our teams understand that the stress doesn’t just come from the water or the fire, it comes from knowing that your home or business is not as clean as it was before the event happened. We do our best to make your recovery as stress-free as possible.
